Infy exploring new verticals

BANGALORE: After reigning over the new service lines, amounting nearly 42 percent of its revenue, technology giants, Infosys Technologies, is on the lookout for new market segments. Evolving from the traditional Application and Development center (AMD) that accounts for more than 50 percent of the company’s revenues, S D Shibulal, Director and Head- worldwide customer sales and delivery said that the last quarter saw success in the form of communication services providers as well as resource and utilities verticals. “ Education is a vertical which we are now starting to get into,” he added. Over the last five years, Infosys has been adding newer service lines including enterprise solutions, system integrations infrastructure management, engineering practice and business process management. In this search of new addressable markets, Infosys struck gold when they spun out Canada as a separate unit after discovering its potential. CEO Nandan Nilekani, termed the search for fresh verticals in relation to seeing increase in revenue productivity. The company follows a policy of taking stock of its entire footprint across service, geographies and vertical between October and January. “We believe that our footprint is almost complete from a technology business intersection point of view, we need to deepen our skills in our new services,” said Shibulal.
