Infy bans backbiting about the firm in social media
Bangalore: Infosys is likely to introduce a new social media work policy effective next month to curb the leak of confidential company data on open forms like Facebook and Twitter. This will likely bar employees from venting their ire on colleagues and seniors on a public forum. Failure to adhere the policies may lead to legal or disciplinary action being taken on the individual depending on the offence, reports the Business Standard. Confidentiality of official data has become a serious matter of concern for the companies with these online open forums. With various incidents to prove this, the social networking websites including Orkut, Twitter and Facebook are treated with suspicion by the employers. As a result, there are reports of companies banning access to such websites to its employees. With social networking becoming an integral part of our lives as each day passes, it seems curbs like these would become normal occurrences. The freedom of an individual to write and think is being questioned by such restrictions.
