Seoul: In a bid to avoid the risks from changes in the visa policy of the U.S., India's second-largest software exporter Infosys Technologies is going to hire more local citizens in the country. According to S Gopalakrishnan, CEO, Infosys, the company has decided to hire more people in the U.S., it would be easier for them to do consulting kind of work. Each quarter the company is planning to hire 250 U.S. citizens as a short-term solution to possible policy changes. On the other hand, when it comes to long-term, the company plans to reduce its dependence on the North American market, said Gopalakrishnan. While the company aims to lower its share of revenue from the U.S. to 40 percent of its total sales from 65 percent, it is looking to raise the portion of revenue generated from emerging markets such as Brazil, Mexico and China to 20 percent from about 12 percent. Nasscom has been lobbying against the legislation that intends to make it harder for non-U.S. citizens to gain work visas to enter the country. During President Barack Obama's India visit, the industry body met him in order to lobby their case.
