BANGALORE: The Indian information technology major Infosys Technologies, which expects to touch the 50,000 mark soon in terms of employee headcount, has made 6,500 campus offers for 2006. These graduates are expected to join the company by the second or third quarter of the financial year 2007. The company’s Chief Financial Officer, T V Mohandas Pai said, “We will hire 3,400 more in the fourth quarter of the current financial year. As of December 2005, the number of Infoscions stood at 49,422.” Infosys’s attrition rate has increased from last year's 10.3 percent to 10.8 percent this year. There has been a net addition of 3,226 this quarter. Quoting a survey, Pai said that the fact that hiring in financial year 2007 will be lower than financial year 2005 is “significant.” The company was supposed to hire 20,000 by end of the current financial year 06, but expects to hire 21,200. Of these, we have already hired 17,800, he added. On technical talent in China, S D Shibulal, Head of worldwide sales, said the Chinese engineers lacked in-depth management skills. “Their domain knowledge is also behind. The lead time we have is much more than two years.”
