SYDNEY: Australian government owned Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) has signed an agreement with Indian IT giant Infosys to commercialize its research outcomes. ''CSIRO has signed the two-fold cooperation agreement with India's second largest ICT company, Infosys, and will benefit from insights into the direction and requirements of the global ICT industry, the Australian Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, Senator Helen Coonan said. ''Infosys will provide CSIRO with a strong distribution capability for CSIRO's Australian-developed intellectual property to global markets,'' she said. The agreement encompasses cooperation in R&D in information engineering and commercialization of CSIRO's intellectual property. Dr Gautam Tendulkar, GM, CSIRO ICT Center signed the cooperation agreement recently in Bangalore during a recent high-level meeting of the ICT industry delegation to India led by Senator Coonan. Infosys would licence the CSIRO's Panoptic Search Engine for inclusion in its financial applications, the statement from Communications Minister Coonan says. The agreement would also facilitate the commercialization of the mobile video search technology developed by CSIRO under its Annodex standard.
