Infosys loses Europe's head to iGATE

BANGALORE: Head of Infosys's European arm, Srinjay Sengupta, has joined technology and operations firm iGATE Global Solutions as its chief sales officer, iGATE announced on Thursday. Sengupta, who was Infosys Technologies’ vice-president, Europe, looking after revenue, profit centre, sales and delivery team responsibilities, would be heading the sales function globally, iGATE said in a statement. In his role at Infosys, Sengupta was managing 1.500 people. He joined Infosys in 1996 to head the UK operations, went to on head sales for Europe and from 2002 managed Europe as an Integrated Business Unit, the statement said. CEO of iGATE Phaneesh Murthy said Sengupta built the European market into a significant revenue stream for Infosys, and expressed confidence that he would bring the leadership and expertise to ramp up iGATE Global's footprint worldwide. "I am glad we will be working together again", said Murthy, a former top executive of Infosys himself.
