Indra Nooyi first woman USIBC chairman

New Delhi: Pepsico chairman and CEO Indra K Nooyi has been elected the Chairman of U.S. India Business Council (USIBC)'s board of directors. Nooyi is the first woman to be elected to this position. With the mandate of deepening two-way trade and strengthen Indo U.S. commercial ties, the USIBC comprises of 250 companies based in U.S. with investments in India. "This development speaks of the exciting opportunities associated with these two dynamic economies," said USIBC president Ron Somers. Outgoing chairman Charles Kaye added, "It is beneficial for USIBC to have Indra with so much talent, insight and vision that can be used to cement the promise of the U.S. India partnership." Formed in 1975, USIBC is hosted under the aegis of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
