India's exports growth slip 11% in Nov

NEW DELHI: India?s exports slipped by 11.38 percent during November 2005 to $6.16 billion compared to $6.95 billion during the same month last year, widening the trade deficit during April-November 2005 to $27.64 billion. The decline during November also pulled down the overall growth during April-November 2005-2006 to 16.07 percent. It was 22.08 percent during April-October 2005. Exports during the first eight months stood at $ 57.06 billion as against $49.16 billion in the corresponding period last fiscal. The trade deficit for April-November 2005 shot up nearly 70 percent to $27.643 billion from $16.34 billion during April-November 2004-2005, according to the data posted on the website of Ministry of Commerce. Imports during November 2005 increased by 8.68 percent to $9.9 billion compared to $ 9.11 billion in the same month last year. Imports during April-November 2005-06 rose 29.32 percent to $84.7 billion as against $ 65.496 billion during the same period last fiscal. Oil imports during April-November 2005-06 were higher by 43.46 percent at $27.76 billion compared to $ 19.35 billion in the corresponding period last year. Non-oil imports during the first eight months this fiscal grew 23.39 percent to $56.94 billion from $46.145 billion in April-November 2004-2005.
