India's exports to cross $80 B in 2004-05

NEW DELHI: India's exports are likely to surge towards $80 billion mark, $5 billion more than the target for 2004-05.
Despite a dip in export growth in February 2004-05, annual exports rose by 20 percent at $79.86 billion breaching the target of $75 billion.
Export growth has been unusually high this year clocking nearly 25 percent in most of the months before it dipped to eight percent in February 2004-05. Exports in 2003-04 were estimated at $63.4 billion.
Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath has set a target of $150 billion annual exports by 2008-09.
