India's exports reach $61B in 10 months

NEW DELHI:IndiaÂ’s exports crossed $61 billion for the first 10 months of the current fiscal and is expected to exceed the target for the entire year to touch $75 billion, Commerce Minister Kamal Nath has said. Merchandise exports grew 26 percent during this period and will exceed the target of 16 percent ($73.4 billion) set for 2004-05, Kamal Nath said. India is headed towards $150 billion of merchandise exports by 2009, an official release from the commerce ministry said. India's exports in 2003-2004 amounted to $63.4 billion. The top 10 destinations for Indian exports were the United States, United Arab Emirates, China, Hong Kong, United Kingdom, Germany, Singapore, Belgium, Japan and Italy.
