The Member of Parliament in India since 2004, Naveen Jindal, runs the rail & steel and power businesses of the Jindal Group. It is the fourth largest private sector Indian business group by assets and sales turnover. He represents the Kurukshetra constituency in the state of Haryana. His run-in with the government inspired him to run for office in 2004 as a member of the Indian National Congress. His tireless efforts have transformed the face of Kurukshetra from being a sleepy town to a modern, developed city which is on the porch of becoming a major tourist destination. Besides spending 10.92 crore from the MPLAD Fund, he spent a sum of 47.55 crore from OP Jindal Jan Kalyan Sansthan for the overall development of the constituency and society. Besides raising his voice about troubles being faced by the people or development activities in Kurukshtera in the Lok Sabha, the MP is always on the alert to heave up the other critical issues in the House such as the Kaithal Railway Bridge or Shahbad - Thol railway over bridge, railway over bridge at Yamunanagar, four lane way from Yamunanagar to Pehowa or trauma centre at Yamuna Nagar and Kurukshetra etc.
