India's Ambuja Cement to invest 8.5 bn in Raipur

Raipur: Ambuja Cement Eastern Ltd. has signed a deal with the Chhattisgarh government to pump in 8.5 billion ($190 million), taking its Raipur unit's annual output from 1.22 million tonnes to 4.25 million tonnes. "The company has signed a memorandum of understandings (MoUs) with the government to expand its unit based in Rawan village in Raipur," Chhattisgarh Industry Minister Rajesh Munat told IANS. He further said that Ambuja cement has to complete the expansion project within two years. It will also install a 48-mw power plant near the cement unit.
