Indians dominate managerial posts in Dubai

DUBAI: Indians have established themselves at the managerial positions in private sector establishments in Dubai, holding over 40 percent of the posts, according to a study. The study conducted by Dubai municipality noted that Indians form the bulk of the Asian population there and held 46.23 percent of the managerial positions. The study said, the U.A.E. nationals hold 11.58 percent of such posts in Dubai whereas Arabs held 14.32 percent. Pakistanis were stands at 8.32 percent strong in this category while 1.48 percent was Iranian managers and 1.28 percent Bangladeshi managers. European managers were 9.95 percent; according to an international daily newspaper. It said that the average monthly salary of a private sector manager was $3473.13 while the average lowest salary for a worker was $249.5. The numbers of the U.A.E nationals working in private sector was 2.4 percent while non-nationals were 97.6 percent. Of these 89 percent of the workers were males. The study was based on the economic survey of 2003 of private sector and the family income and expenditure survey 1997-98.
