London: People in developing countries like India and China show more concern over rising carbon emissions compared to citizens of industrialized nations like the U.S., according to a Seattle- based research group survey. People of these developing countries are more willing than citizens of industrialized nations to place restrictions on carbon emissions from nations like their own, despite the fact that emerging economies like them are often accused of resisting the need to tackle climate change, the survey said. ?Right across the band America was behind on so many fronts in terms of attitudes, awareness and what they are fundamentally doing,? said Australian environmentalist Jon Dee, who completed the survey with the Seattle-based group Global Market Insite. According to the study, Indians cared most about carbon emissions. 55 percent of them described as ?very concerned? compared to just 32 percent of Britons who felt the same way. The survey polled opinions from 14,000 people in 14 countries to gather solid data on how people in 14 countries gather solid data on how people felt about climate change. The study appeared in the New Scientist magazine. Almost 90 percent of those surveyed thought governments should do more to tackle the issue.
