Indian to study work culture in Malaysia, Singapore

NEW DELHI: A 10-member industrial relations mission will visit Malaysia and Singapore next week to learn about work culture and human resource (HR) policies in those countries. Organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the mission that will visit the two countries April 20-23 will be led by Saptarshi Roy, additional general manager for human resource of state-owned National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd. It will comprise management representatives and union leaders from a wide spectrum of Indian companies. "The objective is to learn more about the work culture, productivity and human resource policies of the companies of these two countries," CII said in a statement Friday. While in Malaysia, the mission will meet human resource ministry officials and representatives from the department of trade union affairs and Malaysian Employees Federation. It will visit Malaysian oil majors Petronas and Proton and interact with unions of these companies. In Singapore, the mission will interact with the National Trade Union Congress and meet other industry organisations. The mission is part of CII's efforts to bring about a partnership between trade unions and the management to help companies withstand stiff global competition.
