Indian to start freight service from July

Bangalore: Indian airlines plans to start dedicated freight service from July. The airline is to start the service with two A310 aircraft. Bangalore along with Mumbai and Chennai is in the radar of the freight service. The new airline is likely to tie-up with the Indian post among others for its bulk freighter services. The airline will be converting five Boeing 737-200 aircraft into freighters. “We could also look on converting the Airbus A-300 in our fleet to freighter services. However, no decision has been taken yet,” said Dr Trivedi, Chairman and Managing Director, Indian. New Service Meanwhile, the airlines also launched the I-check-in facility, which allows passengers to receive their boarding passes and also choose their seat through the Internet, before even reaching the airport. Passengers will be able to head directly for security when they reach the airport without even having to wait for their boarding pass, reported a spokesperson to the businessline. To avail the new service the passengers will have to log on to www.indianairlines.com, click on i-check-in icon and enter the originating station, PNR number, passenger name, select the seat and print their boarding pass. This facility is available to people with or without luggage. However, those travelling with luggage will have to report to the airport one hour before the departure.
