NEW DELHI: An Indian telecom mission will visit Israel from July 5 to 10 to develop new strategic partnerships. Led by Kishor Chaukar, chairman of the telecom council of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and managing director of Tata Teleservices, the delegation will be returning a visit by an Israeli venture capital team in March. "This is part of the CII agenda to reach out globally for strategic partners in developing new initiatives for the Indian industry," said the industry lobby in a statement Thursday. The Indian delegation will identify the areas of mutual cooperation and technology transfer. The highlight of the trip would be a meeting with Israeli Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Labour Ehud Olmert. "In an effort to forge meaningful cooperation, the delegation will have meetings with Israeli venture capitalists to study the possibility of rural telephony. Israel has become a world leader in core technology for the Telecom Industry and is known for its innovative solutions in this sector," said CII. The visit will provide an opportunity for Indian companies to explore the Israeli market for products and services. A number of Israeli companies like Comverse, Vocaltec, AudioCodes, Atrica and Alvarion are already working in close collaboration with Indian companies. CII is keen to help companies forge more alliances by highlighting the tremendous potential of the Indian market. During the visit, the delegation will attend an India-Israel Telecom Conference on July 7. This event is being organised in collaboration with the Israel Export and International Cooperation Institute. Over 150 Israeli companies are expected to take part in the event where Chaukar will highlight modernisation of the Indian telecom sector.
