BANGALORE: "The top people at HP consider India and its talent to be one of its precious jewels. On the lookout to obtain and utilize the best of resources from all over the world, they consider India to be one of the strategic locations for that," said HP Services, VP and CTO, Tony Redmond. He added that, at present, HP was spending nearly $ 3.8 billion in R&D related activities, 85 percent of which was spent in the US alone. According to him, the high command at HP was interested in increasingly spreading or redistributing this investment to other parts of the world, while maintaining the better share at the US headquarters. "We are very interested in bringing about more innovations from India, and Digital GlobalSoft in its new role and new path will work towards making those innovations possible," said Redmond. Techcon 2003, Innovations from India, an event conducted by HP and Digital GlobalSoft for their developer force in India, was inaugurated on November 13. The two day conference will involve a repertoire of experts from both Digital GlobalSoft and HP Services addressing issues related to innovations in the emerging markets and mobile and telecom solutions among others. The day includes speakers such as Director of HP Labs, India Dr Ramani, and HP Consulting and Integration principal member of technical staff John Rhoton among others.
