New Delhi: The combined printer, copier and multi-functional product (MFP) market in India grew 39.9 percent in the second quarter of 2010, totalling nearly 0.8 million units, according to research firm Gartner.
"The end of the recession, combined with a surge in end user confidence and availability of better credit, contributed to most of the major vendors experiencing a significant shipment increase in the second quarter of 2010," Gartner Principal Research Analyst Vishal Tripathi said in a statement.
HP was the market leader with a share of 43.9 percent (339,000 units), while Canon, with 169.5 million units, had a market share of 21.9 percent in the April-June quarter of 2010.
Epson had a share of 11.1 percent, followed by Samsung (9.4 percent), TVSE (4.6 percent) and other smaller players (9.1 percent).

1: This clearly shows that we do have a good
demand for printers, however, no company
comes with a proposal to make these printers
in India. We are net importers! I hope wipro
begins to make inkjet printers with
cartridges for color and black ink. Infosys
takes up manufacturing hardware, then only we
can say that Indian companies are responding
to market.
