Indian founded Bubble Motion secures Sequoia funding

MENLO PARK, CA: Voice short message service provider Bubble Motion today announced that it has secured $10 million in series B funding from Sequoia Capital U.S. and India respectively. The technology company will use the funds to enhance research and development of BubbleTALK and expand sales and marketing efforts in various countries, globally. Sunil Coushik, Co-Founder and President of Bubble Motion said, “We hope to tap on Sequoia’s expertise in further growing the company and its technology.” “Bubble Motion operates in an exciting new vertical in the mobile space. This partnership with Sequoia will help us achieve global penetration and enable further innovations,” said Venu Sriperumal Co-Founder and CTO of Bubble Motion Mohit Bhatnagar, Director Sequoia Capital India said, “Their services and innovative products could become the most talked about service in the mobile sector this year.” Bubble Motion provides the technology behind BubbleTALK that enables mobile phone users to talk, listen and reply to messages as an alternative to the conventional type and read message service provided by the mobile operators. BubbleTALK is capable of working on any 2G, 2.5G and 3G networks around the world. The service, which can be used on any handset in the market today, has over 50 million subscribers in 6 countries. Bubble Motion who recently relocated its Headquarters to the U.S. also welcomed Mr. Gaurav Garg, Partner at Sequoia Capital U.S. to the board as part of the deal. “SMS text messaging is a global market whose subscriber base is escalating at an unabated pace and is expected to cross $50 billion in revenues by 2010. SMS users are clamoring for a voice messaging service to further connect and express with their personal network,” said Garg.
