Mumbai: The recession has turned Indian companies to be more demanding than their Asian counterparts, in terms of choosing new ways to increase employee productivity at negligible or no cost. In the current slowdown, Indian clients of large IT multinationals are keener to adopt softwares for productivity, though they are cost-conscious. "In many ways, the demands of Infosys are not very different from Accenture in the U.S. Both want IT systems to be an enabler, rather than a challenge. But our Indian customers want to know why they should spend that extra $100 on their employees, as they are a lot more cost-conscious," Microsoft Corporate Vice-President (Office business platform), Jeff Teper told The Economic Times. It is the labor cost in the country which basically sets it apart from its other global counterparts. Teper maintained that India scores over its global counterparts, when it comes to innovation, which stems from a younger and larger talent pool.
