Indian faiths celebrate Loving Life Interfaith at Jersey

New Jersey: Religious leaders representing various faiths practiced in India congregated to rejoice 'Loving Light Interfaith' at Royal Albert's Palace in Fords, New Jersey, reports Desi Talk. The celebration which was attended by 500 people was organized by Pam Kwatra, president of the newly formed New Jersey chapter of Indian National Overseas Congress (INOC). Kwatra said that peace and harmony is the basic wisdom taught by all faiths. She said her organization stood for secularism and communal harmony. "We are determined to work for promoting peace and prosperity for every human being," said Kwatra addressing the gathering and also added that giving an equal voice and representation to all was most important mission of her organization. Jassi Khangura, a legislator from Punjab, was the chief guest. He talked about issues concerning nonresident Indians. He urged his audience to speak up for the rights of NRIs. "Indian settlers returning to India faced a number of problems while dealing with local authorities," said Khangura. The event honored many leading community members for their services and accomplishments which include Dr. Sudhir Parikh, Dr. Navin Mehta, Khadak Singh, Kenny Desai, Mona Chodha, Dr. Christin Overton, Jennifer Sohan, Saara Maarte etc. Anju Bhargava, a member of President Obama's Council on Faith Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, urged everyone to take advantage of initiatives taken by the Obama administration to get assistance for charitable causes.
