Indian engineer gets U.S. award

NEW DELHI: An Indian Engineering working in General Motors has bagged the prestigious New Faces of Engineering 2005 award in U.S. Vinoth Mani Balasubramani was chosen for his work in making General Motors meet customer expectations by following simple yet radical practices. He is the lone Indian in the list of 15 new faces chosen by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. Balasubramani works with General Motors in Michigan. According to a press release by the society Balasubramani “devised and implemented systems for daily schedules to meet customer demand by eliminating overproduction, inventory, motion and over processing”. He was awarded in New York recently.
