NEW DELHI: Cars and two-wheelers made in India are increasingly being seen abroad with exports showing impressive gains. India exported cars worth 8.97 billion in 2002-03 against 4.18 billion in the previous year - a growth of 114.47 percent, the commerce ministry said Saturday in a statement. Similarly, exports of Indian two-wheelers have almost doubled from 2.63 billion in 2001-02 to 5.13 billion last year, a growth of 94.93 percent. "This indicates that India's exports of cars and two wheelers are doing well in overseas markets," the commerce ministry stated. The Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Algeria, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Britain, France, South Korea, Switzerland, Egypt and Greece are among 80 countries where Indian cars have found good demand. In the case of two-wheelers, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Bangladesh, Nepal, Mexico, Columbia, the UAE, the Dominican Republic, Peru and the US are some of the major markets. In all, India is exporting two-wheelers to about 115 countries.
