Indian businessman in new Asian millionaires list

LONDON: The founder of a sports footwear manufacturing company in Britain has hit the headlines after being included on a new list of Asian millionaires. Guru Seth, who owns the Hackbridge-based Ascot International, is among 300 of Britain's wealthiest Asians identified in the Sunrise Radio Asian Rich List 2004. The list compiled by the author of the Sunday Times Rich List puts the combined wealth of Britain's Asians at 14.3 billion pounds, an increase of 6 billion pounds since last year. While Seth's fortunes have not earned him a place in the top 10 which controls 6.6 billion pounds of the list's total - his firm is worth an estimated 4.3 million pounds. Avtar Lit, chairman of Sunrise Radio and publisher of the list said: "The Asian Rich List 2004 highlights the success of the Asian community in the UK and their contribution to the local economy. "These entrepreneurs have created enormous wealth for themselves and also supported their community by creating jobs and bringing investment." Seth started Ascot International in 1972 and it now has offices in Hong Kong, Moscow, China, India and Taiwan with its British headquarters at Kingfisher House in Restmor Way.
