NEW DELHI: Six Indian bicycle and component manufacturers have bagged orders worth 60 million at a just-concluded international bicycle fair in Germany. Safari Bikes, R&R Bikes, Sandhu Bikes, Sovereign Export, Tvashta Engineering and Indian Bicycle Ambassador were among 700 exhibitors from over 70 countries who participated in the four-day IFMA fair at Cologne. "The Indian companies have generated business worth 60 million including serious enquiries at the fair, which is one of the biggest bicycle fairs in the world, " said New Delhi-based Indo-German Export Promotion Project (IGEP) in a statement Thursday. Germany is an important market for Indian bicycles and components. With an annual turnover of over 12.5 million bicycles, India is the second largest manufacturer after China. India's annual bicycle and components exports are in the region of 1.5 billion. "IMFA gives the Indian manufacturers an opportunity to evaluate their competitors and improve production technology as well as its design capability. Indian bicycles and components including forks, rims, saddles, chains, frames and hubs were among the products displayed at the fair," IGEP stated.
