Indian Institute of Science to on par with Harvard and Oxford

NEW DELHI: With an eye on creating world class institutions from India, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram today said the Government will spend 1 billion to make the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore a world-class educational institution on the lines of Harvard and Oxford. India needs educational institutions that rank at par with the best of the world for its growth in the 21st century, lawyer turned finance minister Chidambaram told parliament while presenting the budget.
