Releasing the honors list, Obama said in a statement on Tuesday, "Each of these extraordinary scientists, engineers, and inventors is guided by a passion for innovation, a fearlessness even as they explore the very frontiers of human knowledge, and a desire to make the world a better place," He added, "Their ingenuity inspires us all to reach higher and try harder, no matter how difficult the challenges we face." The recipients will accept their awards at a White House ceremony later this year. Indian American origin Scientists and researchers have seldom featured before in the White House honours list, but this is the first time that three have been acknowledged in a single year in a list characteristically subjugated by US-born and educated. Among the rare awardees of Indian-origin are Calyampudi R.Rao, and Arun Netravali who were recognized in 2001 for mathematical and computer sciences and technology respectively.
