Born and brought up in a poor farmer's family in Haryana and until 15 years back Ramdev was a struggling man who was often seen on the streets of Haridwar, peddling his bicycle as he went to temples and people's homes to teach them yajnas. Controversies

Baba Ramdev has been allegedly accused of tax evasion and financial irregularities.Investigative journalists from Tehelka have reported numerous financial irregularities and tax evasion being practiced by Ramdev's trusts.

Ramdev and his non-profit firms are alleged to involve in activities prohibited for non-profit tax-exempt organisations in United States Of America too.
