India to strive for 7-8 percent growth

NEW DELHI: Finance Minister P. Chidambaram said Thursday efforts would be to strive for an economic growth rate of between seven and eight percent for the country on a sustained basis over the next few years. Presenting the annual general budget for fiscal 2004-05, Chidambaram said that the government would focus on agriculture and fiscal consolidation to put the economy on a higher growth trajectory.
