KOLKATA: India would bring down the tariff rates to ASEAN levels between five percent and 10 percent, commerce and industry minister Kamal Nath said. Nath said, "India would shortly bring down tariff to ASEAN levels. "However, he regretted that the world did not recognize when India lowered the tariff levels, unilaterally, which according to him, was unfortunate. The minister admitted that India had certain levies on imports that were not WTO-compatible. He categorically said that the government was committed to look into the issues and resolve the same.
