India to house Motorola manufacturing unit

SINGAPORE: Motorola Inc, the worldÂ’s second largest cell phone manufacturer, has stepped up for an investment in a manufacturing presence in India soon which would involve devices as well as infrastructure, the Executive Vice-President for integrated supply chain operations, Motorola, Stu Reed. Motorola also announced an investment over $ 60 million in the next two years to expand its global operations in Singapore, with a plan to recruit more than 200 professionals there, banking on the overall supply-chain proficiency to boost profits. Strategy Analytics data ranked Motorola second after Nokia Oyj (32.8 percent) in the global handset market share with a 20.1 percent.
