India to host large number of mobile websites

Chennai: Chennai based Akmin Technologies, a player in offering mobile websites is going to launch an application that will help in creating and publishing websites through mobile phones. Akmin technologies' new application is a complete cellphone-based application which will be accessible through GPRS-enabled handsets. This service is free of cost and it will be launched on Aug 15, according to The Economic Times
According to Akmin CEO, S Prashanth, the growth in mobile phone base as compared to the penetration of PCs was far greater and widespread, reaching every segment of society. As per the report by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, there are about 65 million users in the country with GPRS-enabled handsets out of the 250 million total users, whereas there are only 14 million broadband connections. This is the reason why they have come up with the new technology of creating and publishing websites from www.mobisitegalore.com. Users do not have to access the internet through a computer to create a website with the help of this service.
Akmin launched a mobile website developer in 2007. With the help of this tool, about 25,000 people from America and India are enjoying the facility of customized mobile websites created by accessing the internet using a PC.
About this new technology, Prashanth says, "We offer the technology free of cost to the customers. Unlike the web version, the screen in the mobile version will be customized and user-friendly to enable even lay persons have their own websites. No technical knowledge is required and no downloads needed. Mobile users can build, publish, manage and share mobile websites." So in the coming future, we can await a lot more customized websites by the mobile users.
