NEW DELHI: After deciding to set up underground fuel reserve for use in emergency, the Government has agreed to develop underground natural gas storage facilities as a backup against disruption and supply shortfall. The underground facility will be built by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation and Gas Authority of India Limited through a special purpose vehicle and French state owned utility Gaz de France will be the consultant. The underground facility will act as a strategic storage and fallback support to provide supply security.
