A U.S. Senator has lauded India for its policy of non-transfer of sensitive technology. Senator Sam Brownback of Kansas complimented India on its record of not transferring sensitive technology and enforcing export controls.

WASHINGTON: The U.S. Thursday withdrew sanctions imposed on India after the nuclear tests in 1998 against transfer of dual use technology and goods -- goods that can be put to both military and civilian use. He said that the India-U.S. partnership in high-tech commerce represented "a unique opportunity for the world's two largest democracies, which share many common interests to work together, to bring about greater stability, security and economic opportunities to Asia and the world". He added: "We believe that it is most appropriate and important that discussion on increasing trade in certain dual-use goods and technologies are moving to a higher and more intensive level."
