BANGALORE: Outsourcing is hot in India, but receives a cold shoulder in the West. As more and more anti-outsourcing campaigns are heard, it is very important to make sure that Indian service providers are clear on the legal and contractual terms before signing a deal. Large IT companies which extend BPO as an additional service would be quite familiar with the legalities involved before signing a deal. However new BPO companies, which are mushrooming in India, by the day should be well aware and clear about the law in overseas countries. To help these companies STPI is organizing the first Indian edition of the `Outsourcing World Summit Series' in Bangalore today. The two-day summit titled, The 2003 India Outsourcing Summit, is creating a platform to debate and discuss topics considered crucial to India like selling outsourcing offshore, brand and market presence apart from the legal and contractual issues. The summit has attracted international delegates including the `outsourcing guru' and President and CEO, Michael F Corbett and Associates, Michael F Corbett. The international delegates are also being tipped on how to do business in India, its unique requirements and culture, how to compare India with other offshore destinations and how to make and manage the company's India outsourcing strategy. Officials from key verticals also presented their needs to outsource in IT and business process management. The verticals include the financial services, airline, technology services, logistics, manufacturing and other industries. That outsourcing is hot in India has been clearly displayed by the back-to-back events Bangalore has hosted. As the market grow, issues prop up and by overcoming these issues, the sector is becoming more and more matured. (Courtesy: CIOL)
