AHMEDABAD: Former prime minister of Singapore Goh Chok Tong today said the Indian Government's decision to not allow IIMB to set up campus in Singapore was India's "loss." Tong, on a visit to Indian Institute of Ahmedabad said, "We are happy to welcome IIMB in Singapore. But it is for the Indian Government to decide on the matter." On January 11, the HRD ministry spiked the proposal of India’s number 2 management school Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore to set up a campus in Singapore and asked it to first cater to the demand at home considering the huge demand-supply gap in IIM seats. Tong said, "Singapore is a hub for education and the institute (IIMB) has a good reputation, so we are happy to welcome the institute. It is India's loss. They could have made some money as well.”
