India leads in IT export: World Bank
Washington: India leads all countries in exports of information communication technology (ICT) services, says the World Bank.

India's exports from the ICT sector increased from about $5 billion in 2000 to over $30 billion in 2006. This accounts for about 42 percent of total service exports, the bank said in its latest report titled 'World Development Indicators 2009'.

At a time when there is a global recession and lay-offs, India's software industry employs about 1.6 million people, the report said.

China, which is at a distant second, is the next largest ICT services trader, with about $5.5 billion in ICT service exports, the report said.

According to the report, China and India were among the fastest-growing exporters. Export growth was led by manufactures in China and by services in India.

2: whats the use..?all manufacturing/production are offshored to china and all IT/Services are offshored to India. So obvioulsy one can boast that we are the largest exporter. But the current situation isnt so. After the Global economic depression the 3rd world nations will consequently suffer. We started living in a globalization era where a small bakruptcy in US wuld make a large impact in india.

Exactly! Moreover we east asian nations are exporting our goods and services in the hope of developing and the US is making use of our resources without paying us. That's one of the reasons for the 11 trillion dollars that the US owes today to the east asian nation. We keep producing and they keep consuming. In addition they give away money to their public in the form of loans with 0% interest. Inspite of that they are not able to recover the money. And they give bail outs. Close to 1 trillion dollars has been bailed out. Whose money is that? Where is the US generating this money from. We are fools to produce for them, help them live luxurious lives and even forget about the money that they owe us.
