SCOTLAND: India joined the leaders of the world's richest nations in condemning the barbaric terror strikes in London and determined to confront and defeat the bane globally. "We condemn utterly these barbaric attacks. We send our profound condolences to the victims and their families," British Prime Minister Tony Blair said reading out a joint statement by G-8 nations and five emerging economies in the presence of their leaders, including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. "All of our countries have suffered from the impact of terrorism. Those responsible have no respect for human life. We are united in our resolve to confront and defeat this terrorism that is not an attack on one nation but on all nations and on civilized people everywhere," Blair said. Among the leaders attending the G-8 summit were US President George W Bush and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. Singh is attending the summit as a special invitee. Asserting that they will not allow violence to change their societies or values, the statement by the G-8 and G-5 leaders said "nor will we allow it to stop the work of this summit."
