India has least no. of corporate women leaders

Bangalore: Even though, whole world is celebrating 100th year of International Women's day, leading companies are failing to make the most of the talents of their female workforce.

According to the Corporate Gender Gap report brought out by the World Economic Forum (WEF) the U.S. led the way with the highest percentage of female employees (52 percent), while India had the lowest (23 percent). To tackle the problem, the WEF urged companies to do more to educate and utilise female talent.
India has least no. of corporate women leaders

Talking to BBC, Saadia Zahidi, Co-autor of the report said, "The findings of The Corporate Gender Gap Report are an alarm bell on International Women's Day that the corporate world is not doing enough to achieve gender equality. While a certain set of companies in Scandinavia, the US and the UK are indeed leaders in integrating women, the idea that most corporations have become gender-balanced or women-friendly is still a myth."

This report is based on a survey of 600 of the heads of Human Resources at the world's largest employers across 16 industries in 20 countries. The average number of women holding the CEO level position was a little less than five percent among the 600 companies surveyed. Finland (13 percent), Norway (12 percent), Turkey (12 percent), Italy (11 percent) and Brazil (11 percent) have the highest percentage of women CEOs in this sample. Most of the respondents blamed traditional and cultural practices for women being unable to move up the career ladder.

Professor Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of WEF said, "Women account for one-half of the potential talent base throughout the world and therefore, over time, a nation's competitiveness depends significantly on whether and how it educates and utilises its female talent."

25: Its nothing but we have to encourage our women empowerment by all means. It will contribute lot for our nations. Women should bring up more and more as a good percentage of these sectors are silent sufferers. Our socio economic lines would grow up if women are getting more employed.

When a woman starts earning the family will prosperousing involuntarily. Because the woman is sharing all up and downs together with husband. The spending as well as saving will enormously increase. A saving means on other fold a spending only. We have EMIs to spend which would relentlessly accepted savings on spending for a long go. So if women start earning the family start progressing, that progressed family will take part in the process of progressing locality and then this will lead to the formation of progressed village finally this advancement will end up with the nation’s succession.

We have good youth both girls and boys to being contribute for the nations. If more women get involved actively for the formation of right government by casting the vote and get elected the whole scenarios will change. They have to come front for keeping away all corruptions. Our Indians grate sin is the nasty people get involved in the government and all the development forecasting for their betterment. Consistent government only can do best for the people and offer big long tenure projects too.

Let healthy a women youngster turns our nation more powerful than ever and this starts be start for every starts.

In India we are into the transition phase and situation is gradualy improving for the employment of women in various sectors but still there is a huge need to change not only in the rules/ lagislation etc. but also in mindset and I hope this will be done because posotive change can not be resisted for a long.

One more thing, now women have shown that they are too much capable to perform their duties in various areas.

Take as live example of our President. Smt. Pratibha Patil.
We have proud of her.

28: Statistics could be misleading here. It is very important to take into consideration the ratio of male graduates and female graduates. Further how is the ratio of male graduate to female graduates in urban, semi urban and rural areas. Female graduates from rural areas might not be interested in taking up jobs (my assumption). After taking all such scenarios we can take a fresh look into the male to female ratio in corporate world.

Prior to independence In Mysore state (a portion of present Karmntaka ruled by Mahrajs) women were encouraged by half fees than men. Scholar ship and feeships were given to meritorious and poor people for their education. But present system of donation, black money cheating in the examination was not found. Nowadays due to greed for power and amssing wealth by politicians education suffered.

Lets forget all the suppression women had to face! Right now when women are looking for acknowledgement rather than support why is it hard for the society to just give it without any questions?
And why is it that no matter how many achievers are around one only notices the losers?

45: I dont believe capabilities can be gender dependent. Capabilities are built by a person's attitude towards work, his liking for his career and job and encouragement at his workplace and various others.

And ive heard people speak a lot of women's capabilities not being at par with those of men. One of the most common reasons, that has also been mentioned here by Mr.Venkatmani, is that they are apprehensive of working for more than 8 hrs.
Id explain it like this, from personal experience:
We still live in a society that defines roles based on gender. A woman has a roles defined at home. She has to look at her husband, his parents, and children. This stays even if she is working. How many men today go back home and share their wives responsibilities like cooking, taking responsibilities of child's studies, and other things.
'Its ok dear, ill go home early today and cook the dinner, dnt wrry'.
How many men would respond to their wife like this on being told that she'll be late from wrk?

The Problem is that:
Men as 'colleagues' want their female colleagues to want to work as hard as them. And the same men as 'husbands' back at home want their (working)wives to slog single-handedly.

Article is good, nice things to be noted. Apart from that we must know the real fact that was behind in the ladder of success for women in the corporate comapanies. As a woman, i wants to point out the main thing why they are in lack of achieving success in their concerns its none other than friendly manner. They fails to approach everything in friendly manner and they dont feel that they are not aptable in any situation. If they understand this tactics they will definately succeed in their environment. We have many examples who succeed in their firm. So here i request you kindly behave politely and friendly with your co-worker. They might be superior or others. This will give a good environment to you that leads you to up comes with great success. All the very best to you all upcoming achievers...Have a great day.
