NEW DELHI: India Saturday lowered to 10 percent the import duty on a range of products related to the telecom and IT sectors. A notification Friday night includes products like capacitors, baring paper and power capacitors, ferrite parts including memory cores and ferrite magnets, switches with contact rating less than five amperes at voltage not exceeding 250 Volts AC or DC, connectors and magnetic heads. Some two-dozen components, including special purpose optical fibre, are included in the list of items on which customs duty has been revised since April 2002. The lowering of duty follows the abolition or steep lowering of duty on a range of products and raw material earlier this month to boost manufacturing activities.
