India gets its first Sony PlayStation store

Bangalore: Avid gamers this one is for you! Sony India is all set to launch its famed PlayStation store in India. The store will offer various games, themes, movie trailers, wallpapers and others, all of which can be downloaded. Speaking about the launch of the store, Atindriya Bose, Country Manager- India, Sony Computer Entertainment said, "We are very excited to be bringing PlayStation Store to the Indian market, making available existing games as well as PSN Exclusive games through digital download at even more attractive price points." The services of the store will encompass PlayStation Portable (PSP) and PSP Go as well. Among its other offers include online multiplayer gaming facility and also subscription to PlayStation Plus program. The subscription part will let you gain access to several new features. This will mean chance of trying out early versions of games and other demos. The store will remain open on all days. The pricing goes like this: A starting price has been fixed at 225 for downloading PS3 game titles and 170 starting price for PSP and PSP Go handheld gaming systems. Also people can subscribe to annual plans for PlayStation Plus service at 2,850; a 90-day subscription plan is tagged at 885. The PlayStation Network is already very popular with about 50,000 people having signed up with the network, claims Sony. With Xbox Live already having a good market presence in India, the PlayStation store would also expect to gain similar, if not more, popularity. Nonetheless the news is certainly a good one for the gamers.
