BANGALORE : Many small IT companies in the UK are looking to tap Indian software expertise to scale up, Kelvin Green, second secretary (trade & investment) in the British Trade Office Bangalore, said on Wednesday. Green noted that there were as many as 95,000 IT companies in the UK , most of them small, but with very bright ideas. "Many have niche products and are hoping to scale up quickly with these products. Indian software companies are world class and have the ability to help them do that," he said. The British Trade Office is also keen on Indian companies setting up bases in the UK . Green says this would be necessary for companies that want to take advantage of the large IT spending that is happening in the UK , especially by the public sector. "Normally, clients want complete solutions from a single entity, and Indian companies would do well to partner with British companies to offer such solutions," he says. TCS already has some 1,500 people in the UK , and Wipro and Infosys about 700 each. Green also dismissed worries in India about the backlash against outsourcing. "In the UK , the backlash is nowhere as bad as in the US . Besides, business has to grow, and if it has to grow by working overseas, the UK government will not stop it," he said.
