Bangalore:  Indians are one of the most content people on the planet suggests a new poll conducted by global research company Ipsos. Despite the conflicts, wars and woes the world is a happier place as 22 percent of global citizens say they are ‘Very Happy’.

77 percent citizens in 24 countries said they are ‘happy’ in their lives while 22 percent said they are ‘very happy’. While the general assessment of happiness tends to remain fairly stagnant over time, the measure of those who are ‘very happy’ showed the greatest amount of fluctuation.

Nationally, Indonesia is recorded to be the happiest of all countries surveyed, with 51 percent citizens saying they are ‘very happy’. On the second position are India and Mexico with 43 percent each. Brazil and Turkey follow next with 30 percent each while Australia and United States each with 28 percent. On the contrary, the lowest on the ‘very happy’ category is Hungary with 6 percent, South Korea with 7 percent and Russia with 8 percent. Following them is Spain with 11 percent and Italy with 13 percent.  The citizens of Europe drag the global average assessment of happiness downward as only 15 percent said they are ‘very happy’.

The survey also revealed that those who are married are ‘very happy’ (26 percent) in comparison with all other groups; especially those who are not married (18 percent).

It was noted that those who are under the age of 35(25 percent) are more likely to say they are ‘very happy’ than those who are in the age group 35-49 (20 percent) and 50-64 (19 percent) across all countries surveyed. Also, among those who are ‘very happy’ are people with high education (25 percent) and those with a high household income (24 percent).
