India Angel Network Pours 3.25 Crore In Peel-Works

Mumbai: Indian Angel Network (IAN) has invested 3.25 crore in Mumbai based Peel-Works, a cloud-based Sales Force Talent Transformation and BPO company. The investment will be utilised in expanding product offering, creating technology differentiators and human capital. Peel-Works’ technology solution organises information, computes performance-based ratings and incentives and uses analytics to do predictive modelling and generates recommendations around promotability, skill and competency.

Setup by a team of management graduates with extensive experience in the FMCG sector in the Human Resources and Sales Management, Peel-Works offers customized as well as productised solutions for very large to medium size companies in FMCG, telecom and insurance sector that conduct their business using indirect sales force. “We plan to revamp the leadership and talent part of our organisation by infusing more expertise in terms of technology and delivery,” says Sachin Chhabra, CEO and Founder, Peel-Works. Currently the company employees around 40 people directly or indirectly. He also plans to productise sales force consulting and transformation solution to be hosted on the cloud and will be charged on pay per use basis.

Sadeesh Raghavan and Srikant Sastri, IAN members, will be joining the Peel-Works board. Raghavan says, “In Sachin and his team, we found exceptional entrepreneurs with a passion and high energy to create a company focused on building the clients’ sales force to produce measurable results for its customers.” Both the members have already been giving their strategic inputs to the company that counts a leading FMCG and DTH company among its clients. The IAN investors in Peel-Works include active angel investors Harish Mehta, Srikant Sastri, Saurabh Srivastava, amongst many others.

Raghavan did his undergraduate at IIT Madras, and MBA at UCLA, U.S. He was the Managing Director at Accenture where in his last role he ran their products (manufacturing and distribution) practice across Asia Pacific and then most recently all their India Businesses.

Chabbra adds, “We are excited to have IAN join hands with us to build Peel-Works. In our pre-investment discussions, we have already received very high quality strategic inputs and going forward, we see Peel-Works building a hockey stick growth curve with IAN’s thought leadership and Networks.”

Sastri says, “We are confident that Peel-Works will set new standards in Sales Force transformation by using analytics, especially for the indirect sales team.” Prior to joining Solutions, he worked for Unilever (Pond’s business) and McCann-Erickson for 10 years before turning entrepreneur in 1995. He founded and built market leadership for two companies in India: Solutions-Digitas and Team4U. Sastri is country Chairperson for Vivaki India.

 IAN has over 180 members and has over 25 investments across multiple sectors like IT, Mobile and Education and has made several successful exits. In 2011 alone, IAN invested nearly $10 million in 10 startups including Jigsee, Groffr and Vayavya. It invests in startups, early stage ventures with an incubator in a unique model in partnership with the Government of India and operates in five Indian cities.
