NEW DELHI: British Trade and Industry Secretary Patricia Hewitt will launch a new business group to boost trade relations with India during her three-day visit to India from Wednesday. Official sources said here Monday that the launch of the UK and India Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO) would provide new opportunities for business partnerships between the two countries. Hewitt and Indian Commerce Minister Kamal Nath will launch JETCO in New Delhi Thursday and attend the annual Confederation of Indian Industry's (CII) partnership summit in Kolkata Wednesday. Before leaving for the visit, Hewitt said: "I am delighted to be returning to India. I was last there in January 2003. I especially look forward to the launch of the Joint Economic and Trade Committee. This new initiative will strengthen our already healthy bilateral trade and investment relationship. "I also look forward to taking part in the CII Partnership Summit, an event that demonstrates the vibrancy of the Indian economy. "India and the UK share much, including a global vision and democratic values. I will meet with senior Indian ministers to talk about how we can work together even more effectively to meet our shared goals in the international arena.
