IndiGo wins best low-fare carrier award

Mumbai: IndiGo, a low-fare domestic airline, was awarded "Best Low-Fare Carrier in India for the year 2007" by the Air Passengers Association of India (APAI). President and CEO of IndiGo Bruce Ashby said: "I am absolutely delighted that our efforts to run an affordable, reliable, hassle-free airline have been recognized by the people who matter most - the travellers". The APAI conducted the poll among frequent flyers and its members at Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Kochi airport during Feb 15-29, 2008, with more than 1600 respondents. Apart from passenger responses, over 400 online responses were received from members of APAI. The award is based on scores received on six criteria: value for money, punctuality, connectivity, safety, refunds and baggage handling. IndiGo airline currently operates 17 aircrafts with 118 daily flights connecting 17 destinations including Agartala, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune and Vadodara. IndiGo plans to serve approximately 30 Indian cities by 2010, with a fleet of approximately 40 A320 aircrafts.
