Even capital punishment seems to be a poor deterrent... I would rather say that partial decapitation and the subsequent shame for the perpetrator should be the option... plus ensure that the person is treated like a black sheep forcing them to take their own life... I know I might sound too crude... but the fact is there is a dire need for drastic measures...

I am normally not in favour of the death penalty, but for rapists and child molesters, there sould be no other punishment. When an animal goes mad, it is generally put to sleep...no different treatment should be awarded these psychos. Additionally, why should tax payers bear the financial burden of these unwanted elements of our society.

This is really shocking n very shamefull too. I feel that this is just the half truth as more than 50% of cases go unreported because of soo many reasons. So one can imagine the original figure....This problem can only be stopped by making the harder n stricter rules and punishments......I think the culprits should be punished in front of public with harsh punishments....Being a girl i also face so many problems everyday.....Just two days ago, i was waiting for an auto in front of my office, a guy coming from the opposite direction spitted the pan he was chewing on me deliberately and sped away on his bike. I was just shocked n didnt know how to react n wat to do at that time......That was just disgusting......Is this the way the new generation is respecting its women.....So, i feel our judicial system should be more stricter and should come out with more stronger n harsher rules....

I think we all know about the external terrorism that is causing shock to the Indian community in India and the world. But atleast, there are some steps being taken to tackle it and eradicate it. What about this internal terrorism that is happening on a daily basis? We don't need commandos or NSG to tackle them, just a honest government and judicial system that can punish the wrong-doers strictly to the extent of life imprisonment.

These are just the cases that are reported. I am sure many cases go unreported. We should raise our girls to be stronger and teach them self defense (karate etc). Also the rapist should be given harsh punishments - others will learn from this as an example

it's really a shame to India. In spite of having rich tradition of respect towards women why do we behave like an animal?
