IXIA sets up center in Kolkata

KOLKATA: IXIA of Calabasas, the California-based company has set up a development center at Kolkata in order to support its expanding global software development activities. The company, which provides IP network testing solutions, has clocked revenues of $157 million in the last one year. IXIA aims to treble its headcount in India within the next two to three months time from 67 at present, the company’s President and CEO, Errol Ginsberg said. He said, IXIA has development centers in Romania and California as well. It is a supplier of hardware and software to, among others, companies in the IP network and telephony equipment space. The company’s clients include Cisco, Hewlett-Packard, Verizon, Texas Instruments, Microsoft, Ford Motor Company, Lockheed Martin and Boeing. In company’s total revenue software accounted 15-19 percent, which is likely to go up to 25-30 percent within the next two to three years. The Indian operations would contribute substantially to the growing share of software in the overall revenues in the years ahead. He said, “We have chosen Kolkata for IXIA's software development center on account of its cost advantage compared with other cities such as Bangalore and Hyderabad and for the relatively low attrition rates. In India Reliance and BSNL are the company’s clients and over time, efforts would be made to rope in more Indiana clients as more Indian companies operating in the IT network and communications space.”
