ITeS-BPO sector to employ 470,000

KOLKATA: IndiaÂ’s information technology enabled service (ITeS) and business processing outsourcing (BPO) industry will employ nearly 470,000 people by the end of financial year 2005-06 as against 348,000 people it employed in 2004-05, a study said.
The study said the growth in ITeS-BPO industry in India was driven by the need of overseas companies to access global talent, economies of scale, wage arbitrage and increased profit margins.
ITeS-BPO exports registered a growth of 44.5 percent in the financial year 2004-05, which translates to revenue of $5.2 billion. ITeS-BPO exports during the current financial year was expected to touch $7.3 billion, the studt by IT body Nasscom said.
